Every person has a different
path to walk in life. At times it narrows. Sometimes the path becomes wide and luxurious
coated in flowers and streams. During certain periods, it becomes bumpy.
The worst parts of my path are when
I trip and fall in the pits. These pits are placed in the most unexpected places of my walk through life.
I can be having the time of my life, and then the next second I’m in a pit. I’ll see
the path narrow, the sky grows darker, and am not surprised when a pit claims me.
The
pit. It’s different for each person, as if specifically designed just for your own private hell. My
pit has voices wanting me to do awful things to hurt myself so I won’t feel anymore. They want me
to find a way to complete oblivion.
I know the pits are not my friends.
I have to stay alert and on guard.
The hardest pit is the one that doesn’t
want me to go on. It latches on to me. It entwines my arms and legs until I can’t move.
But I cannot tell you this story without telling you about my Guardian.
He is a Redeemer, a Sentential, and a Guide.
The greatest
thing above all is that He loves me. Period. That is it! I don’t have to earn it. I don’t have
to do anything. For the first time I understand the word “unconditional.”
There is a great Book that documents all of His promises, and tells me how much He loves me.
In the book it says:
Ø He
redeems my soul from going down to the pit, and I will live to enjoy the light. (Job 22:38 NIV)
Ø He
declares that he will watch over my coming and going both now and forever more. (Psalm 121:8 NIV)
Ø He
says that he will train me to walk straight, so that I can follow the true path. (Psalm 86:11 MSG)
Ø He
tells me that neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate me from his love. (Romans
8:39 NIV)
The beauty of this story is that this Guardian is not just mine. He is available to all.
He has the ability to be at all places at all times for anyone. I highly recommend my Guardian as
you walk through life. He is a bridge over the pits. If you happen to fall, he is the Lifeguard that will
throw you His lifeline when you need it, and draw you out of the deepest depths.
Where can you find Him? Sometimes
I hear Him whisper in the wind. I hear Him when I look in His book. Even in some churches,
I hear him calling my name. And once you make contact and ask Him to be the Guardian of your heart, the
deal is done. He is with you forever and ever, even until the end of the age. (Matthew
28:20, NLT)
